It is possible to include Date Step properties in an action step. The following steps will demonstrate how to include a date stamp from a data placeholder into an excel workbook.
Firstly, create a new data step and drag the needed step property from the property toolbox into the grey border. Here, we chose the date placeholder.
By default, the date stamp will display today’s day. However, if this placeholder is made visible in subscriber view, the subscriber can also edit the date if needed. - See Include/exclude Properties From the Subscriber View
Secondly, create an action step and choose "Multiple file manipulations":
You can link this value to later steps with certain action steps such as “Update Cell Value”. Look for “Input\Output of another step”:
A pop-up window will let you select the data step where you added the date placeholder :
