Each type of data step property holds different type of data. At the same time data step properties have similar settings you can use to adjust your process.
How to make data step property required
A single process may involve many inputs. At times you may want to specify inputs which must be filled by the user of your process, or else the process cannot run. These properties are known as required.
To change data step property required state:
1. Open the process.
2. Open the data step.
3. Select the data step property you want to make as required.
4. Tick the Required checkbox.
5. Click Save.
How to change data step property subscriber mode
You can set up your data step properties to operate as inputs or outputs in your process. Sometimes you may want to hide the property from the subscriber at all. There are three modes that can be used to control the visibility of the data step property in the Subscriber View: Input, Output and None. Each of these modes holds its own purpose.
Input: Any of your data step properties with the input mode will be visible in the Subscriber View as data inputs for your process.
Output: Any of your data step properties with the output mode will be visible in the Subscriber View as data outputs of your the process.
Note: Any of your data step properties with the none mode will not be visible in the Subscriber View.
By default each data step property has None mode.
To change data step property subscriber mode:
1. Open the process.
2. Open the data step.
3. Select the data step property you want to change the subscriber mode for.
4. Choose the mode out of three.
5. Click Save.
How to add a mouseover message to a data step property
To help the end users to understand your process more you can set up a mouseover message for a data step property which will be visible in the Subscriber View as a tooltip.
1. Open the process.
2. Open the data step.
3. Select the data step property you want to add a mouseover message to.
4. Click Advanced options and select Mouseover text.
5. Type mouseover message into the Mouseover text input.
6. Click Save.
How to change data step property designer visibility mode
If you set up the data step property as invisible it will be hidden in the data step view mode. This can be handy if you want to hide certain information in your data step properties from members who have Reader and Executor permissions to the process.
1. Open the process.
2. Open the data step.
3. Select the data step property you want to change visibility for.
4. Untick the Visible checkbox.
5. Click Save.
How to rename a data step property
1. Open the process.
2. Open the data step.
3. Select the data step property you want to rename.
4. Type the new name in the field shown below.
5. Click Save.
