The Refresh pivot tables instruction is a simple instruction to refresh a pivot table in an Excel workbook to the latest data in the table's source data range.
In Microsoft Excel, the F9 key will not refresh pivot tables. Only formulas and graphs are refreshed when doing so. To update the data fed into pivot tables, you will instead need to click on the pivot table and select "Analyze" followed by "Refresh."
However, there is an easy alternative in SolveXia, with its built-in Refresh pivot tables instruction.
Using the step
This instruction can be configured quite easily by linking to the relevant workbook.

Once run, all pivot tables in the workbook will be updated to the latest data in their configured source data range.
Limitations of processing with Pivot Tables
Pivot tables are removed from a workbook after running most Excel instructions in SolveXia and are replaced with a static table.
We recommend storing the pivot tables (with the correct ranges) in a separate workbook (a template file). After all Excel instructions are finished (on the working file), use the Copy pivot table instruction to copy pivot tables from the template file to the working file. After copying the tables, you will need to use the Refresh pivot tables instruction on the working file to update them.
Further information on implementing this can be found in the Copy pivot table article.
